July 3, 2009 Staples Center raffling tickets for Jackson memorial Play video

(NECN: Los Angeles, Calif.) - Officials have announced ticket plans for the memorial service to be held for Michael Jackson at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Tuesday.

Staples Center boss Tim Leiweke said that 17,500 free tickets would be provided for the service, to go along with a free worldwide video feed.

11,000 tickets will be for seats inside Staples Center, while 6,500 will be for seats in the Nokia Theatre, in which a live simulcast will be displayed.

Ticket seekers must register on the internet at StaplesCenter.com. Registration closes at 6 p.m. on Saturday, at which point 8,750 names will be randomly selected to receive two tickets each.

Notifications will be sent out on Sunday. Tickets will be obtained via Ticketmaster on Monday.

Details about the memorial service itself were not released.

The news of the memorial service ticket raffle came out on the same day that a law enforcement official told The Associated Press that the powerful sedative Diprivan -- an anesthetic used in operating rooms to induce unconsciousness -- was found in Jackson's home.
