| October 30, 2009 Security guard in Mass. shooting: I did what anyone would have done

(NECN: Reading, Mass.) - Paul Langone, the off-duty security guard who fatally shot a psychiatric patient as the patient stabbed a doctor, is speaking out.
In his first public comments since Tuesday's shooting, Langone says he definitely doesn't consider himself a hero.
Langone says he is "OK," but just a "little shy from the attention."
Langone spoke to reporters outside his parent's Reading, Massachusetts, home on Friday.
Langone says he is just trying to get back to a normal life, which includes going to work and walking his dog. He also says he plans to continue to work as a security guard.
"I just did what anyone would have done," says Langone.
Suffolk District Attorney Daniel Conley said Thursday that preliminary investigation found that Langone was justified in fatally shooting 37-year-old Jay Carciero.
Conley said Carciero stabbed Dr. Astrid Desrosiers numerous time before being shot by Langone in an office leased by Massachusetts General Hospital.
