Obama: Government working to ease pain of unemployment

(NECN: Washington) - President Barack Obama this morning signed into law a bill that will help "grow our economy, save and create new jobs and provide relief to struggling families and businesses."

The national unemployment rate has hit the double-digit mark. The jobless rate hit 10.2% last month, the highest since 1983. The rate was 9.8% in September.

Obama noted legislation he's signing to provide additional unemployment benefits to people thrown out of work. And he said, "I will not rest until all Americans who want work can find work."
