October 31, 2009 Obama plays basketball on Halloween Play video

(NECN: Washington, D.C.) - On this Halloween Day, President Barack Obama took a trip to play basketball at a local gym.

The president's fondness for the game has been well noted, from his days on the campaign trail to the Oval Office.

As president, Mr. Obama honored NCAA men's basketball champion University of North Carolina during in the White House Rose Garden in May. The Tar Heels were his pick to win the tournament and, as he said, vindicated him in front of the entire nation.

On Halloween, President Obama was accompanied by a large caravan of security vehicles, some of which contained fellow players.

Upon exiting the gym, he said to the media, "You guys are closer than usual. It's like trick or treating."
