| November 1, 2009 White House trick-or-treaters turn out in droves
|
(NECN: Washington, D.C.) - President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama handed out treats at the White House on Halloween night. The first lady wore a leopard print top and furry cat ears, getting into the Halloween spirit.
More than 2,000 children walked through the line, receiving cellophane good bags loaded with items including White House M&Ms with the president's signature imprinted on them and a sweet dough butter cookie made by White House pastry chef Bill Yosses.
Kids came dressed in all sorts of costumes -- some as superheroes, pirates, fairies and skeletons.
The president stayed out of costume, but White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs was dressed as Darth Vader -- light saber and all. Other staffers could be seen dressed up as Chewbacca, a witch and even a chicken.
