| November 2, 2009 Navy assault ship with steel from WTC arrives in NYC

(NECN/ABC:New York, NY) - A Navy assault ship built with steel from the World Trade Center has arrived in its namesake city.
The USS New York contains about 7.5 tons of steel recovered from the World Trade Center site.
It arrived in New York escorted by about two dozen tugboats and other vessels and was greeted with a 21-gun salute near the site of the 2001 terrorist attack.
9/11 first responders and family members were also there for the arrival.
More than 350 sailors will serve aboard the new Navy assault ship, which will be officially commissioned this Saturday.
