(NECN: Greg Wayland) - The Army psychiatrist suspected of
opening fire yesterday at Fort Hood is described by one of his
bosses as "a quiet man who wouldn't seek the limelight."
The deputy commander of clinical services at the post hospital says Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan provided excellent care for his patients.
The shooting rampage left 13 people dead and 30 wounded, including Hasan.
After some confusion last night, NECN has learned that the shooter is still alive and on a ventilator at a civilian hospital near Fort Hood.
President Barack Obama says the entire nation is grieving over yesterday's shooting rampage at Fort Hood. He's ordering the flags on federal buildings lowered to half-staff in honor of the victims.

Obama also says he has met with the FBI chief about the case and cautions against jumping to conclusions.
