(NECN: Kenneth Craig) - A devastating fire tears through the Stone Soup Community Center on King Street in Worcester. The building is severely damaged, but volunteers promise that their mission to help those in need will continue.

But there is no question it's important to those on King Street- it's their rock -Stone Soup is a community center woven in neighborhood roots.
So when the building went up in flames late last night - that community stood together - arm in arm.
Firefighters battled the flames for over an hour last night, residents are thankful no one was hurt as fire officials try to piece together a cause.
For the last two and half years… stone soup has opened it's doors to a downtown neighborhood often struggling to pick up its feet.
It's the home to several organizations including Worcester roots, EPACA, and the earn a bike program.
The members of those programs returned to the center today…confident and united to begin the rebuilding process… it's no easy job.
