| November 3, 2009 Boston Mayoral candidates make final pitch to voters
|
(NECN: Katie Davis - Boston, MA) - It's election day across the country.
Here in New England, dozens of cities and towns will be voting in mayoral races.
In Boston, City Councilor Michael Flaherty is trying to unseat 16-year incumbent Tom Menino.
Menino and Flaherty both made a final push for votes Monday night and they'll both be back at it Tuesday morning.
Polls open in Boston at 7 AM and will stay open until 8 PM.
Menino is running for an unprecedented 5th term.
But Flaherty says, it's time for a change at city hall.
He's running along with Sam Yoon, hoping they can combine their supporters to beat Menino.
Monday night, both candidates spent the evening on the campaign trail.
In the preliminary election, Flaherty got 24% and Yoon got 21%.
Menino won with 50%.
But Flaherty and Yoon hope they can team up to win this race.
NECN reporter Katie Davis is outside Boston Public Library with more on their final pitches to voters.
