(NECN: Katie Davis, Boston, Mass.) - It is Election Day, and one of the major races in New England is for mayor of Boston. City Councilor Michael Flaherty is trying to unseat 16-year incumbent Tom Menino.

Nearly two dozen incumbent mayors are facing challenges in today's elections across the state of Massachusetts.

One of the more heated races is in Quincy, where Mayor Thomas Koch and former Mayor William Phelan are staging a rematch of their 2007 race, in which Koch ousted Phelan from office.
