| November 4, 2009 House Speaker Pelosi on elections: 'We won.'
|
(NECN/ABC News: Washington, D.C.) - House Speaker Nancy Pelosi ignored most of yesterday's election results, commenting today on Democratic victories in New York, and California. In special elections in those states, Democrats secured two congressional seats, expanding their majority in congress.
Pelosi said the victories would help Democrats pass health care reform this year.
In New York, Bill Owens defeated conservative Doug Hoffman. And in California Lt. Governor John Garamendi easily won in the 10th congressional district.
