Two men have received consecutive life prison sentences plus 10 years for their roles in the killing of a high school football player in Providence.
Attorney General Peter Kilmartin says 19-year-old Ashner Alexis, of Pawtucket, and 22-year-old Anthony Moore, of Woonsocket, were sentenced Thursday in Superior Court.
Prosecutors say Moore provided the shotgun used in the murder and Alexis was the gunman. They were both found guilty of first-degree murder and other charges.
Seventeen-year-old George Holland was visiting his girlfriend's house on Feb. 4, 2014, when he was shot through a window. Prosecutors say the intended targets were his girlfriend's brothers. Holland was a Central High School football player.
Moore's attorney, Mark Smith, says the law is harsh when firearms are used in a homicide. Alexis' attorney couldn't be reached.
