A 3-year-old boy was killed after being struck by a vehicle in Brockton, Massachusetts, town officials confirmed Friday evening.
Casiam Modesto was killed after he was struck near the corner of Hervey Street and Main Street shortly after 4:30 p.m.
The driver remained on the scene. There are no pending criminal charges.
According to workers at a nearby salon, Modesto's siblings were getting their hair cut at the time of the crash.
Brockton Mayor Bill Carpenter expressed his sympathy for the boy's mother.
"She was here when it happened," he said. "She witnessed something that will change her life forever, and we just want to try to help support the family in any way that we can."
