Massachusetts State Police have confirmed one woman is dead after a four-vehicle crash on Route 95 North, near Exit 5 in Mansfield, Massachusetts.
At approximately 3:20 in the morning, State Police responded to reports of the accident. A 27-year old male driver from Revere, Massachusetts, was operating a 2008 BMW on Route 95 North when, for reasons still under investigation, lost control and struck a 2002 Ford Explorer. The Explorer rolled over into the median.
The BMW became disabled in the travel lane and was hit by a 2008 Lexus, operated by a 25-year old male from Dorchester, Massachusetts. The Lexus was then struck by a 2008 Audi S5, operated by a 32-year old male from Revere, Massachusetts.
One occupant from each of the vehicles was transported by ambulance to an area hospital.
A 65-year old passenger from the Explorer was seriously injured and transported to Sturdy Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced deceased. Four other occupants of the Explorer were transported to an area hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash.
The victims' names are not being released and the identity of the deceased female is being withheld pending notification of the family.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. No charges have been filed at this time.
