Six cars were totaled after a car carrier caught fire, shutting down I-95 in Boxford, Massachusetts, early Tuesday morning, police confirm.
The carrier caught fire at Exit 53 and I-95 has since partially reopened. Two left lanes have reopened to traffic.
Police say of the six cars totaled in the fire, four were smoke damaged. The trailer was totaled in the fire, but the tractor is drivable.
A towing company is on scene to remove each car from the trailer. The trailer will also need to be towed.
The fire chief believes the fire started due to a brake problem on the trailer that extended to the cars on the back of the car carrier.
No one was hurt in the incident.
