68-Year-Old Skydiver Dies After Jumping Out of Plane

State Police say Vermont Skydiving Adventures was operating a jump for Joseph Crossley Monday afternoon in West Addison when he made a hard landing in a field

Authorities say a 68-year-old man has died in a skydiving accident in Vermont.

State Police say Vermont Skydiving Adventures was operating a jump for Joseph Crossley Monday afternoon in West Addison when he made a hard landing in a field.

Police say the East Hardwick man spiraled out of control before he fell.

Authorities are investigating what might have gone wrong after he jumped out of the plane. Sergeant Matt Daley tells WCAX-TV they don't know if he suffered a medical event or if his death had to do with the landing.

Daley says the chute did open and Crossley was wearing a helmet.

Vermont Skydiving Adventures would not comment on whether they will be open Tuesday but say they're investigating the tragic incident.
