Boston Police Arrest Man With 43 Bags of Heroin, 14 Bags of Cocaine

A man was arrested Friday after police officers found him with large quantities of drugs and cash.

According to police, officers assigned to the Drug Control Unit for downtown Boston were conducting an investigation at 11:50 a.m. when they observed a street level drug transaction behind a dumpster on Blackstone Street near Surface Road.

Officers then followed the suspect to the Haymarket outdoor market and observed him enter a produce tent where he appeared to be employed, police said.

Officers continued their surveillance when, at 12:45 p.m., the suspect appeared to take part in another drug transaction next to the produce tent, police said.

According to police, officers approached the suspect and placed him in custody without incident. They then conducted a search and found 43 bags of heroin, weighing approximately 20 grams, 14 bags of cocaine and $638 in cash.

Police identified the suspect as Florentino Figueroa-Barragan, 36, of Revere.

He will be charged with distribution of Class A drugs in Boston Municipal Court, police said.

It is unclear if he has an attorney.
