A former Connecticut state trooper accused of sexually assaulting an 81-year-old woman has pleaded no contest to one count of first-degree sexual assault, according to online court records.
The Hartford Courant reports 43-year-old Jeffrey LaPorto entered the plea Tuesday in a deal with prosecutors.
Court records show LaPorto has also pleaded not guilty to a second count of first-degree sexual assault and one count of first-degree unlawful restraint.
LaPorto was arrested in 2014 after the woman's son told police his mother had been sexually assaulted. The victim told police she and LaPorto met in the bar of her Windsor Locks hotel and talked and drank for hours before going to her room.
She said she didn't consent to sex, but LaPorto's attorney has said any sexual contact was consensual.
LaPorto served as a Connecticut State Police trooper for several years prior to his suspension in 2008 and termination in 2010, according to internal documents obtained by NBC Connecticut. He was also the subject of four internal affairs investigations.
He is expected to be sentenced June 29 to 10 years in prison, suspended after two years.
