Police in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, are conducting a death investigation after a man was found laying face down in a fire pit on Sunday.
The victim, identified as 60-year-old Paul Gignac, was pronounced dead on the Mason St. scene.
Authorities say Gignac appeared to be badly burned as a result of falling into the pit. The exact cause of death remains under investigation.
At this time, officials say there appears to be nothing suspicious, and the death is being considered an accident.
