Police say a 35-year-old man who was reported missing on Friday morning in the area of Crane Beach in Ipswich, Massachusetts was found safe at his home in Beverly.

Ipswich police said they began searching the beach and the nearby Crane Estate around 7 a.m. after friends reported the man missing. The man had last been seen around 4:30 a.m. walking on the property of the Crane Estate with a group of friends when they lost sight of him.

Police said the man was found safe around noon. They said he had walked from Ipswich to his home in Beverly.

Throughout the duration of the 5-hour search, there was a considerable police presence and helicopters seen flying above the area. Aerial footage from NBC10 Boston's Sky Ranger helicopter showed numerous police cruisers and all-terrain vehicles gathered in the area.

People were told to avoid the area during the search.
