Poll: New Hampshire Senate Race Remains Tight

Democrat Jeanne Shaheen has a slight lead on Republican Scott Brown

A new poll shows Democratic U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen slightly ahead of Republican challenger Scott Brown in a tight race for the New Hampshire Senate a month before the election.

The WMUR Granite State Poll said if the election were held today, 44 percent of likely voters say they would vote for Shaheen and 38 percent said they would vote for Brown. One percent said they'd vote for someone else; 17 percent were undecided. Forty-three percent of likely voters said they are still trying to decide.

The telephone poll of 681 adults was conducted by the University of New Hampshire Survey Center between Sept. 29 and Oct. 5 and had a sampling margin of error of 3.8 percentage points.
