Pete Bouchard

Pete Bouchard joined the NBC 10 Boston and necn family in January of 2016, and broadcasts weekday evenings.

He’s been a familiar face to much of Southern New England over the past 13 years as the former senior meteorologist at WHDH in Boston.

Pete studied meteorology at one of first colleges in the country to offer a concentration in broadcast meteorology - Lyndon State College in Vermont.

His television career had humble roots in the basement of a motel in White River Junction, Vermont, where WNNE-TV was housed at the time. His next stops were WMTW in Portland, Maine, WVII in Bangor, Maine, WGME in Portland, Maine, and then on to Fox 25 in Boston.

The search for a television home didn’t end there though. He returned to Portland to work at Fox 51 with his wife as anchor before moving to WHDH in Boston in 2002.

All along the way, he gained experience across all of New England’s microclimates, visited countless schools (where some of the students went onto become interns of his), civic organizations and donated time to dozens of charities.

Pete has received numerous accolades in his long career from the Associated Press, Maine Association of Broadcasters, two Emmy nominations and three Best of Boston awards.

In his spare time, he embarrasses himself on the guitar and likes making sawdust in his workshop.

Temperatures cool off heading into the weekend

A cold front will sink us back into the 60s on Thursday, and although that’s still “warm,” it’s not nearly as toasty as the last three days. We’ll struggle in the sunshine department too. The upper levels are cooling off, allowing clouds to fill in above. Friday sees us closer to 60, with full sun and more dry air. We’ll...

Foggy start on Wednesday with another round of warm temps on tap

We’re in for another day of warm temperatures, but this seems like the end of the line for this particular spell. A cold front will cross overnight and into the early morning hours, dropping us back to the 60s Thursday, and deepening the chill Friday, as we close in on our normal high for this time of year, 59. What...

Warm temperatures continue Tuesday, cooler weather moves in late week

From Hartford to Bangor, records fell all across New England on Monday. Tuesday won’t be quite as warm, but some spots may still hit 80 degrees away from the coast. Steady winds coming in from the east will eventually snuff out the warmth in the mid-afternoon, however. And right at the water’s edge, we’ll struggle to make 70 in the...

Summer-like weather on Monday with high temperatures expected to hit 80

Summer pays us a visit Monday. Highs will soar under sunny skies, and challenge the record of 82 degrees in Boston! Worcester should fall short of the record of 80 degrees, but it’s still a warm day with highs in the upper 70s. An unusually warm high-pressure system is to thank (blame?) for this warm stretch through midweek. It’s been...

Some wind Friday but beautiful semi-summer weather this weekend

This spat of semi-summer weather will likely be the last of the season. It’s nearly impossible (at least for now) to put together a string of 70+ days this late in the season. The main reason is the lower sun angle and the shortened day length, but also the long nights make it harder for us to recover from cool...

Cold start Thursday, warmer temps expected this weekend

We’ll climb out of the cold Thursday morning with plenty of blue skies (and fingers). Dry air and plentiful sun will boost us back to the upper 50s in most spots. It may take until the late afternoon, but we’ll get there. Along the coast we could see a very gentle onshore wind, so our highs should be capped at...
