Tax Tuesday: Common Tax Return Errors

As people rush to get their tax returns done, it’s easy to make small mistakes that can cause big headaches. Kate Seekell with the Massachusetts Society of CPAs said it’s crucial to double check your Social Security number and spelling. “Make sure your name is the same as it is on your Social Security card,” Seekell said. “Check the number, too. A lot of mistakes and that will delay your return.” Seekell also said filing status is key when it comes to determining your standard deduction, the amount of taxes you’ll pay, and any benefits you might be entitled to.
