PG&E is suspending power shutoffs for nonpayment during the coronavirus pandemic, the utility announced Thursday.
PG&E is also offering flexible pay plans for customers affected by COVID-19.
"We understand that many of our customers may experience a personal financial strain due to the slowdown in the economy related to the pandemic," a PG&E spokesperson said.
The utility is also taking safety measures such as having employees wear gloves while in customers' homes, avoiding handshakes and asking customers to pay online or by phone rather than in local offices if they are experiencing symptoms.
