(NEDH) - It's a long way from Hollywood to Wellesley, but former entertainment anchor Dixie Whatley wouldn't change a thing. She leads us on a tour of her home on the Charles River.
The nationally-known arts anchor and entertainment tonight pioneer bought the Wellesley, Massachusetts property in 1987.
"I really wanted to be near water," she says. "I'm from Southern California I've lived in New York City. I've wanted that tranquility and in our business you know you need that tranquility."
When Dixie left TV, she found a second career as an artist. Her main focus is stone sculpture. "I've always been an artist," she says. "I used to be a professional illustrator. My father was a rock hound along with being an attorney. And I always collected rocks from the time I was a tiny child."
This outdoor studio next to the house is one of her favorite places to work.
"When I turn off everything I hear birds and the breeze comes by and it's sunny and it's beautiful. I can't imagine a prettier place to be able to work."
Dixie also has two work spaces inside the home for the months it's too cold to work outside. When she puts her tools down, Dixie and her husband Brooke Cobb can enjoy the river view from their deck.

"We look over at Elm Bank so all you have is trees," she says. "It's a park area and it will never be built on so you feel like you're all by yourself."
This house is on the market, so if you're interested call Dixie's broker Priscilla Hind Marsh at 781-446-4165 or visit the web site www.nemoves.com. As you'll see in the piece, Dixie is a talented sculptor. You can see examples of her work at www.dixiestudio.com or by visiting Boston's L'Attitude Gallery at www.lattitudegallery.com.
