Multiple people were arrested during an anti-abortion march in Boston on Saturday that was met with counterprotesters, police said.
The National Men's March to Abolish Abortion and Rally for Personhood was set to travel down Commonwealth Avenue from outside a Planned Parenthood clinic near Boston University to the Common, according to its website.
Boston police said arrests were made in the Kenmore Square area. A representative didn't immediately have details on the number of arrests or what charges they faced.
Hundreds of people marched in the anti-abortion demonstration, The Boston Globe reported. The Parkman Bandstand, where the march was slated to end in a rally, was surrounded by barricades before the group arrived.
The Supreme Court two years ago ended the constitutional protection for abortion that had been in place nearly 50 years in a decision by its conservative majority to overturn Roe v. Wade.
