A 21-year-old man was arrested in connection with a deadly shooting nearly two weeks ago in New Bedford, Massachusetts, the Bristol County District Attorney's Office announced Friday.

The shooting occurred around 1:37 a.m. on Aug. 4 on Earle Street, where a resident found Aaron Britto suffering from multiple injuries, according to District Attorney Thomas Quinn.

Britto, who was initially found in the grass between Morna Lounge and Grill and a home at 234 Earle St., was taken to Saint Luke's Hospital, where he died, Quinn said.

Anthony Jalo was taken into custody and charged with murder. He was ordered held without bail at his arraignment Friday in New Bedford District Court, NBC10 Boston affiliate WJAR reports.

According to authorities, Britto was leaving the Feast of the Blessed Sacrament in New Bedford and was stopping by the Morna Lounge, WJAR reports. Surveillance video reportedly showed Jalo, another person and Britto leaving the lounge area and going behind the Harmony House, prosecutors said.

Surveillance video then allegedly showed Jalo taking a gun and shooting Britto, and then taking jewelry from Britto as he was suffering from the gunshot wound, prosecutors said, according to WJAR. Jalo was allegedly seen shooting the victim again.

Prosecutors said in court that detectives were able to identify Jalo from multiple angles of surveillance video, WJAR reports.

Jalo, of New Bedford, is due back in court on Sept. 13 for a probable cause hearing. Attorney information wasn't immediately available.
