Two arrested in deadly Dorchester shooting, police say

Two men are facing gun charges in a shooting that left a man dead in Boston’s Dorchester neighborhood on Monday. 

Two people have been arrested in connection with a deadly shooting on Monday night in Boston's Dorchester neighborhood, police said.

The shooting took place in the area of 114 Devon St. Police were called to the scene just before 10:30 p.m.

When they arrived, they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released.

Detectives began to check footage from surveillance cameras in the area in an attempt to locate a suspect. They later broadcast a description of two suspects and the direction in which they fled. Officers found two people leaving an alley in the rear of 270 Columbia Road. They attempted to speak with the individuals, who immediately sprinted from the area. They were apprehended shortly thereafter following a foot pursuit.

A canvass of the area, including the path in which the suspects had fled, was conducted, and police recovered two guns.

Boston police said two men are under arrest in connection with the shooting. Darius Powell, 25, of Woonsocket, Rhode Island, and Daiquan Miller, 25, of Dorchester, are facing charges of unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of a large capacity feeding device.

Both are expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on Tuesday morning.
