Boston Red Sox say third baseman Pablo Sandoval will undergo surgery on his left shoulder.
Sandoval's surgery will take place in Florida. A date has not been announced.
The 29 year old was placed on the disabled list April 13 with a left shoulder strain.
He's appeared in three games, including one start, this season and was 0-for-6 at the plate with a walk.
ESPN reports Sandoval is expected to miss the remainder of the season.
