‘I Saw Flying Glass:' Car Slams Into Home in Worcester

It was not immediately clear if anyone was in the building when the crash happened

A driver was taken to the hospital after a car slammed into a home in Worcester, Massachusetts on Tuesday.

Worcester police confirmed they were called just after noon to the crash near Halcyon Drive and St. Nicholas Avenue.

The 24-year-old driver was taken to the hospital, police said. No one else was hurt.

A woman who lives on the first floor described the moment the car hit.

"I heard a big bang and for some reason I dived on the floor," Diana Mwangi told NBC10 Boston. "What I saw was flying glass 'cause my window, my door is glass."

Police are still investigating the cause of the crash. But neighbors say they don't feel safe walking near the road, and they're not surprised to see this happen.

"It's definitely a problem down here," said Eleni Koumpis. "They come flying around the corner."

Koumpis pointed out the proximity to a school, calling the issue "very concerning."
