Police responded to a home in Dover, Massachusetts, after a man allegedly barricaded himself inside on Nov. 29, 2024.

One man was arrested Friday after he allegedly barricaded himself inside a Dover, Massachusetts, home, which led to a police standoff that lasted several hours.

Dover police said they were first called to Claybrook Road around 11 a.m. for a report of an "unwanted person." When they arrived they found a man armed with a knife. Officers retreated and attempted to deescalate the situation.

According to police, the man barricaded himself inside the house, and mutual aid was called in, including the Metropolitan Law Enforcement Council.

Around 3 p.m., MetroLEC personnel took one male into custody, police said. There no injuries to him, or any police personnel.

It was not immediately clear if anyone else was inside the home during the ordeal. No other details were shared by police, including the man's name or what charges he may be facing.
