A beachfront house in Scituate, Massachusetts, is a total loss after a fire Friday.
Fire officials said the blaze at a single-family home on Oceanside Drive was reported shortly after 3:15 p.m.
Firefighters worked to keep the fire from spreading to nearby homes. Friday's strong winds complicated the response, officials said.
The Scituate Fire Department was joined by crews from Cohasset, Hingham, Marshfield, Norwell and Pembroke.
The homeowners do not live at the house year-round, and no one was home at the time.
There was no immediate word on any injuries.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
