A man was arrested on burglary and criminal trespassing charges after a police standoff in a neighborhood in East Kingston, New Hampshire, early Tuesday morning.
Jessie Gott, 35, of Nashua, New Hampshire, faces charges of burglary, criminal trespass and resisting arrest after allegedly refusing to leave a home on Giles Road early Tuesday morning, setting off a police response and a standoff with a SWAT team.
East Kingston police said they were first called to the home just after midnight for a report of shots fired. They learned the situation started as a dispute between a homeowner and a guest, who was later identified as Gott. Gott was allegedly refusing to leave after an argument. The homeowner and a second guest, fearing for their safety, went outside. After the two left, they heard what they described as two large bangs.
Gott still refused to leave the home when ordered by officers, according to police. The New Hampshire State Police SWAT Team was called in when responding officers learned there were guns in the home. Eventually, a robot was sent in locate Gott, who was found in a bathroom. He finally left without incident.
Multiple departments including Kingston, Newton, Brentwood, Kensington, Seabrook, Nottingham and the East Kingston Ambulance all responded to assist.
The case remains under investigation. There is no threat to the public, according to police. No injuries were reported.
East Kingston is a town of about 2,400 residents, located about 7 miles from the northern Massachusetts border.
