Boston police are investigating a shooting Thursday night in Jamaica Plain.

A person was shot near the intersection of Huntington Avenue and South Huntington Avenue, near the Riverway stop on the MBTA's Green Line, according to police.

Police said Friday night they did not know the severity of the victim's injuries.

No arrests have been made. Police say the scene is active and they are searching for suspects.

Neighbors in the area tell NBC10 Boston they heard about six to eight gunshots.

"I look out my window, which faces the alleyway, and I see something maybe on the ground, and I'm not quite sure what it is, and then like a minute later, the police show up," said one man, who did not give his name. "As soon as the cops arrived, I was like, 'Oh god, this is not happening.'"

No further information was immediately available.
