Man Who Lost Bid for New Murder Trial Wants Ruling Reversed

The Maine Supreme Judicial court on Feb. 2 upheld a 2014 ruling by a judge denying 34-year-old Buddy Robinson a new trial

A Lewiston, Maine, man who was convicted of murder in 2012 and lost his bid this month for a new trial is seeking a reversal of the court's decision.

The Maine Supreme Judicial court on Feb. 2 upheld a 2014 ruling by a judge denying 34-year-old Buddy Robinson a new trial.

The Sun Journal reports Robinson filed a motion with the court asking it to reverse its decision to uphold the ruling.

Robinson was sentenced to 55 years in prison after he was convicted in the 2011 beating and drowning death of 22-year-old Christiana Fesmire, who lived downstairs from his apartment.

His lawyer claimed that Robinson wasn't granted a fair trial due to prosecutorial misconduct.

The court had said the prosecutor's conduct was unprofessional but didn't affect the jury's decision.
