Pageant Miscount Leads to Shared Title, Contestant Upset

A 17-year-old Miss 4th of July pageant winner informed of a miscount is upset, the 14-year-old winner who's agreed to share the title isn't talking, and the pageant organizer is defending herself from charges of rigging the results.

Molly Lybrook of Fairfield says she won the Winslow Miss 4th of July Pageant on Saturday. But organizers discovered votes had been miscounted and declared 14-year-old Caitlin Grenier of Winslow the winner.

As a compromise, organizers say both teenagers will be crowned this year as a result of the confusion. But the Morning Sentinel reports Lybrook isn't having it and suggested organizer Leah Frost influenced the results. Frost said she sent Lybrook copies of the score sheets to show the mistake.
