Arrest made in Biddeford, Maine, homicide

Officials have now ruled the death investigation that began Friday in Biddeford, Maine, as a homicide. (News Center Maine)

Authorities are investigating a homicide in Biddeford, Maine, on Friday afternoon.

Biddeford police say they responded to a report of a person shot at an apartment on State Street around 2:10 p.m. Friday and found a man with grave injuries.

The victim, identified as 27-year-old Ahmed Sharif, of Lewiston, Maine, died and was transported to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta, police say. His death was ruled a homicide.

Around 6:30 p.m. Monday, state police said they arrested 25-year-old Lorenze A. Labonte at his residence in Saco, and charged him with Sharif's murder. He is expected to make his initial court appearance on Tuesday.
