Portland police are seeking a suspect in a fatal shooting at an apartment building in Portland run by an organization that offers mental health services.
Police say 36-year-old David Anderson of Portland was killed and another man wounded around 11 p.m. Tuesday in an apartment at Shalom House, at 88 Gilman Street.
Police want to question a man who was seen on surveillance video fleeing the building. He was described as white and around 6 feet tall, and was wearing black pants and a black jacket with a hood.
Portland police detectives were working with the state medical examiner's office and the attorney general's office on the investigation.
Friends and neighbors say they are feeling nervous, knowing the shooter is still at large and they're saddened to learn the identity of the deceased victim.
"He was a very good friend of mine, and I love him," said Tammy Shaw, who lives across the street from the Shalom House. "It's just awful."
Shaw said Anderson would regularly visit her and her son, bringing him toys and video games
