One person is dead and another is hurt after separate shootings Monday in Boston's Dorchester neighborhood.

Police responded to a call just after 8 p.m. on the 900 block of Blue Hill Avenue, where a man had been shot.

The man was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

About four hours before that incident, police responded to another shooting on the 300 block of Bowdoin Street. An adult male suffered non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

Witnesses said there were passengers in the car with the victim at the time of the shooting, but authorities haven't yet confirmed that information.
