A person was in "dire" condition and three others were in custody after a wild shooting incident on Interstate 91 in Springfield, Massachusetts, led to a police chase.
Massachusetts State Police said a trooper was on patrol on I-91 north early Sunday when he saw the Honda Accord in front of him pull even with a Ford F-150. Police said the trooper saw a gun protrude from the passenger side of the Honda and open fire into the truck.
The trooper attempted to stop the Honda, but the driver took off, prompting a high-speed pursuit. The car traveled to Route 391 and crashed into a guardrail near Exit 3 in Chicopee, authorities said.
The trooper saw three men flee from the crash and into the wood line at the side of the road, authorities said. He was able to arrest two of the suspects, identified as 18-year-old Isaiah Fraticelli and 22-year-old Luis Cotto, both of Springfield.
Authorities found a loaded Glock 19 handgun in the Honda and a loaded Taurus 9 firearm on the ground nearby. State police said the Glock was stolen in Enfield, Connecticut.
A third suspect, 24-year-old Keith Cotto of Springfield, was believed to have escaped into the Chicopee River. He was later arrested after troopers learned he was being treated for injuries at Mercy Medical Center.
The shooting victim was found in the area of Union Station at the intersection of Dwight Street and Franklin B. Murray Street. He was taken to Baystate Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, according to state police.

The three suspects face charges that include armed assault with intent to murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, unlawful possession of a fire arm and unlawful possession of ammunition. They may face additional charges if the victim dies, state police said.
They were scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Springfield District Court. It was unclear if any had an attorney.
