Police in Methuen, Massachusetts, are asking for the public's help looking for three suspects involved in an armed home invasion.

The invasion happened at a home on Kendall Street Sunday night. Police say they received a 911 call at 9:53 p.m. The caller said that his neighbor, Michael Chiarenza, 47, had been robeed and asked for the police.

Police established a perimeter to search for the suspects, who were reported to be dressed in all black and wearing masks. State police, K9 units and air units aided in the search.

Nearby residents were advised to stay away from the area during the time of the search.

Police say Chiarenza was assaulted with a bat and was taken to Holy Family Hospital in unknown condition.

Inside the house during the time of the attack was an adult female and a child. The woman was thrown to the floor during the assault. She said she could hear Chiarenza fighting with the invaders and that he was also assaulted with a gun.

Police say that it was not a random attack.
