Cops: Tires Stolen 45 Times This Year

Police say that the tires and rims are stolen off of vehicles and that the vehicles are left on blocks or resting on the ground

Tires have been stolen off of vehicles at least 45 times this year in Lowell, Massachusetts, and police are recommending residents to protect their vehicles.

Police say that the tires and rims are stolen off of vehicles and that the vehicles are left on blocks or resting on the ground.

Thirty-seven of the incidents have involved Honda Accords and most of the incidents have happened between 11:30 p.m. and 5 a.m. There has also been a spike of these instances this month.

Investigation indicates that the theives use stolen mini-vans to get around and carry the stolen tires.

Police say it is recommended for anyone with valuable or custom wheels to invest in wheel locks.
