Two firefighters experienced shoulder injuries as crews knocked down a 3-alarm fire in Boston's Roxbury neighborhood Friday afternoon.
Boston Fire confirms the blaze was at 6 Waverly St., a four-story brick apartment building. It was reported around 12:30 p.m. and was knocked down fairly quickly.
Investigators say the fire, which was caused by a child playing with a lighter, started on the top floor of the building and traveled to the roof. The building had 16 apartments total, and at least eight have fire, water and smoke damage.
An estimated 40 residents have been displaced.
The firefighters' injuries were the only ones reported; they were both treated and transported by Boston EMS.
