Crews in Lawrence, Massachusetts, are on the scene of a six-alarm fire which destroyed two buildings and displaced several families Thursday morning.
The fire in the area of Phillips and Cambridge streets broke out early Thursday morning.
Officials say the fire began in an unoccupied building which was under construction. That building has since collapsed. Two buildings in all are condidered to be total losses. Five other buildings sustained some damage from exposure, but are still occupiable.
Mutual aid from several surrounding communities responded to the scene.
There are no reports of injuries. Officials say at least five families have been affected. There are no reports of anyone missing.
The Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency is on scene along with the Red Cross to assess the scene and help those affected by the fire.
The Lawrence fire chief says the fire may be suspicious. Officials are currently investigating.
