It has been six months since two Boston firefighters lost their lives battling a massive fire in the Back Bay, and Friday a new foundation will be created in memory of those firefighters.

It has been six months since two Boston firefighters lost their lives battling a massive fire in the Back Bay, and Friday a new foundation created in memory of those firefighters was announced.

A special event at Ladder 15, Engine 33 on Friday mornig was held marking the six-month anniversary of that awful day on Beacon Street.

Firefighter Michael Kennedy and Lieutenant Ed Walsh were killed while fighting a massive blaze in an old brownstone in Boston back on March 26.

A new foundation was announced in the memory of both men. Last Call Foundation was started by Kennedy's mother, Kathy Crosby Bell, and will support Boston's firefighters with the resources that they need.

This anniversary comes just days after the owners of a welding company were blamed for the fire. Officials say D & J Iron Works Didn’t follow proper precautions.

Sparks from welding equipment were pinpointed as the cause. The company was fined $58,000.
