Man Found Guilty of Stealing From Disabled Cape Cod Veterans Charity

A Massachusetts man has been found guilty of stealing more than $100,000 from a disabled Cape Cod veterans charity.

Richard Trott Sr., 65, of East Sandwich was sentenced to two years in jail with 18 months to serve after being found guilty on four counts of larceny following a four-day trial, the state attorney general's office said.

Trott transferred funds from the Hyannis chapter of Disabled American Veterans, Inc. while he was a corporate officer into his personal bank account.

The investigation showed Trott spent the money on various things, including vacations, a boat and retail purchases.

The AG's Office says a restitution hearing is set for Nov. 19.
