Democratic nominee for governor Martha Coakley is calling for at least six debates with her Republican and independent opponents between now and Election Day.
Coakley's campaign manager, Tim Foley, said Friday that the campaign is reviewing many debate invitations that have poured in since the Tuesday primary. He said Coakley is committed to accepting at least six "regionally balanced" debates to be held in different parts of the state.
Coakley says the debates should include not only Republican nominee Charlie Baker, but independent candidates Evan Falchuk, Scott Lively and Jeff McCormick as well.
Coakley and Democratic attorney general candidate Maura Healey were scheduled to campaign in Boston's Charlestown neighborhood Friday, while Baker was set to meet with seniors at the Greater Boston Chinese Golden Age Center in the Brighton neighborhood.
