MS-13 Gang Member Takes Plea Deal in Gang Rival Stabbing

The U.S. Attorney's Office says 31-year-old Jose Hernandez-Miguel on Monday admitted under a plea deal that he and other MS-13 members stabbed a rival gang member

Federal authorities say a member of an international street gang has pleaded guilty to attempted murder in the stabbing of a rival gang member last year.

The U.S. Attorney's Office says 31-year-old Jose Hernandez-Miguel on Monday admitted under a plea deal that he and other MS-13 members stabbed a rival gang member near Highland Park in Chelsea on May 12, 2015.

The Boston Globe reports prosecutors say Hernandez-Miguel also pleaded guilty to cocaine distribution. Sentencing is scheduled for Feb. 21.

The office says Hernandez-Miguel was one of 61 individuals named in an August indictment targeting the alleged criminal activity of MS-13 gang members in the state.

MS-13 has over 6,000 members in the U.S. and over 30,000 members internationally, mainly in El Salvador, Mexico, Honduras and Guatemala.
