A 54-year-old man was killed when he was hit by a car while attempting to cross the street on Sunday night.
Worcester Police were called to the area of 229 Southwest Cutoff around 8:50 p.m. Sunday for a report of a serious pedestrian accident. Upon arrival, they found a man suffering from serious head trauma. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Preliminary investigation shows that a 2012 Toyota RAV4 was headed east on the Southwest Cutoff when the man tried to cross the road. The man was hit and thrown 80 feet from the initial point of impact.
The driver of the RAV4 was a 56-year-old Worcester man, police said.
The accident remains under investigation. The victim's identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
