A man from the United Kingdom was arrested for allegedly assaulting a woman on board a British Airways flight from London to Houston, and was the reason the flight had to be diverted to Boston's Logan International Airport, Massachusetts State Police confirm.
Forty-six-year-old Darren A. Halliwell of Aspull, a village outside of Manchester in England, is currently charged with interfering with flight crew; however, state police add he could face additional charges for the alleged assault.
Flight 195 landed safely in Boston around noon on Wednesday, after which Halliwell was arrested by state police.
Police say the woman Halliwell allegedly assaulted was traveling with him; they declined to comment on her relationship with him and identify her.
Halliwell will be arraigned Thursday in East Boston District Court. There's no word if he's respresented by an attorney.
